Vataan

Vataan means homeland. Three women of Kutch pause in their embroidered ghagras and odhnis against the dunes, a thatched bhunga and a resting goat behind them. Jignasa spent weeks on the mirror-work and embroidery alone, a tribute to the textile traditions of western India and to the women who keep them alive.

"वतन" का अर्थ है मातृभूमि। कच्छ की तीन स्त्रियाँ कढ़ाईदार घाघरा-ओढ़नी में टीलों के बीच ठहरी हैं, पीछे छप्पर वाला भूंगा और आराम करती एक बकरी। जिग्नासा ने केवल शीशे के काम और कढ़ाई पर कई हफ़्ते लगाए, यह पश्चिमी भारत की वस्त्र परंपराओं और उन्हें जीवित रखने वाली स्त्रियों को श्रद्धांजलि है।

Vataan signifie « terre natale ». Trois femmes du Kutch marquent une pause dans leurs ghagras et odhnis brodés, devant les dunes, une hutte bhunga au toit de chaume et une chèvre au repos. Jignasa a consacré des semaines aux seuls miroirs et broderies : un hommage aux traditions textiles de l’ouest de l’Inde et aux femmes qui les font vivre.

«وطن» تعني الأرض الأم. ثلاث نساء من كوتش يتوقفن بتنانيرهن وأوشحتهن المطرّزة أمام الكثبان، وخلفهن كوخ «بونغا» بسقفه من القش وماعز يستريح. أمضت جيغناسا أسابيع على أعمال المرايا والتطريز وحدها، تحيةً لتقاليد النسيج في غرب الهند وللنساء اللواتي يحفظنها حيّة.
