Flow

Commissioned for a Mumbai home that looks out over the Arabian Sea, Flow began with a single request: bring the monsoon indoors. Jignasa layered hand-combed texture, pressed patterns and folded drapery so that the surface moves as light crosses it through the day. The deep green band is a river in flood; the gold beneath is the earth it feeds. At five feet tall, it is made to be lived with, not simply looked at.

अरब सागर की ओर खुलने वाले मुंबई के एक घर के लिए बनाई गई "फ़्लो" की शुरुआत एक ही अनुरोध से हुई: मानसून को घर के भीतर ले आना। जिग्नासा ने हाथ से बनाई गई बनावट, उभरे हुए पैटर्न और मोड़े हुए कपड़े की परतें चढ़ाईं, ताकि दिन भर बदलती रोशनी के साथ सतह जीवंत लगे। गहरी हरी पट्टी उफनती नदी है, और नीचे का सुनहरा रंग वह धरती है जिसे वह सींचती है। पाँच फ़ुट ऊँची यह कृति केवल देखने के लिए नहीं, साथ जीने के लिए बनी है।

Commandée pour une maison de Mumbai tournée vers la mer d’Arabie, Flow est née d’une seule demande : faire entrer la mousson à l’intérieur. Jignasa a superposé textures peignées à la main, motifs en relief et drapés pliés, afin que la surface s’anime au fil de la lumière du jour. La bande vert profond est un fleuve en crue ; l’or en dessous, la terre qu’il nourrit. Haute d’un mètre cinquante, l’œuvre est faite pour être vécue, pas seulement regardée.

رُسمت «فلو» بتكليف لمنزل في مومباي يطلّ على بحر العرب، وبدأت بطلب واحد: أن يدخل موسم الرياح الموسمية إلى البيت. نسجت جيغناسا طبقات من الملمس المُمشّط يدوياً والنقوش البارزة والأقمشة المطوية، لتتحرك السطوح مع مرور الضوء طوال النهار. الشريط الأخضر الداكن نهرٌ في فيضانه، والذهب تحته أرضٌ يرويها. بارتفاع خمسة أقدام، صُنعت هذه اللوحة لتُعاش معها، لا لتُشاهد فحسب.
